Phase One of Community Connectivity Project worth over 500,000 Euro Bratislava, Slovakia (October 9, 2006) – Corinex Group and the Corinex AV200 CableLAN technology have upgraded the existing cable distribution systems in Dohnany, Mestecko, Zariecie, Luky and Lysa pod Makytou, 4 cities in Slovakia. The project consisted of upgrading the existing cable TV distribution system (CDS) to a 1 Gbps backbone terminated in municipal buildings. The municipal building LANs and end users were connected to the termination points with the Corinex AV200 CableLAN customer premise equipment offering net speeds of 100 Mbps. The first phase of the project passed 1000 homes and connected 20 public buildings. The fast, two way communications is delivering TV, internet, VoIP and security/surveillance services. The pilot phase of the project was worth over 500,000 Euro. The architecture for the project was designed and delivered by Corinex Group, a leading system integrator in Eastern Europe. One of the keys to the Corinex solution was a unique set of filters and couplers, designed by Corinex, that enabled the optimal performance of the network. The Corinex solution can be easily duplicated in other parts of the world where similar cable infrastructure exists, the upgrade to the network can be provided at a minimal cost. “The Corinex Group solution was chosen among 8 others offered to us for this project, financed by the EU,” said Mr. Milan Panacek, the Mayor of Dohnany. “We chose this solution because of its scalability and because Corinex developed technology that fit our existing infrastructure. I am sure the same solution can be used to quickly upgrade other cable TV infrastructures around the world.” “I am very happy that Corinex Group is involved in this pioneering project. The Ethernet over Coax product developed by Corinex, uses Powerline silicon, and is a very cost effective technology that we plan to use in other regions of Slovakia and other markets.” said Mr. Jan Miskovsky, Chairman of Corinex Group.
